Wheeler Winston Dixon (born March 12, 1950) is an American filmmaker and scholar. He studies film history, its theory and criticism. He has written a lot about aspects of film, for example in his books A Short History of Film and A History of Horror.

- The characters in the film aren't there to be deeply constructed, but to be a 'sights of activity'. That means they are there to show the contrast between them and the killer and show what distinguishes him from others - essentially meaning the film is about the killer more so than themselves
- Men and women are there to show the horror and gore of the typical horror genre
